9 people made this
IngredientsMakes: 20 biscuits
- 200g self-raising flour
- 200g soft brown sugar
- 160g butter or margarine
- 20 hard boiled sweets
MethodPrep:10min ›Cook:10min ›Extra time:10min cooling › Ready in:30min
- Preheat the oven to 200 C / Gas 6. Grease baking trays.
- Place flour, sugar and butter into mixing bowl and bring together with a wooden spoon (or hands, if you desire) until you get a smooth dough.
- Make 20 mini dough balls and place them onto baking trays. Press down with palm of hand. Allow a lot of space between these, as they do spread.
- Make a hole in centre of biscuit dough and place a hard boiled sweet in the centre.
- Pop in the oven until golden brown and sweet has melted, about 10 minutes.
- Take out of oven and leave to cool until sweet has cooled completely, about 10 minutes.
Ensure the sweet has cooled completely before removing from baking tray as this will ensure you don't end up breaking the biscuit around the sweet. Also it's easier to take off with a spatula.

How much frosting will you need?
That always depends on how thick or thin you apply the frosting or how much decorating you do but here are a couple of guidelines :
Our recipe should make enough Best Cream Cheese Frosting to cover a 9″ x 13″ sheet cake or a two-layer 8″ cake.
If you are making cupcakes, you should be able to frost 24 cupcakes if you apply the frosting with a knife. If you swirl on the frosting with a pastry bag you should be able to frost 15-18 cupcakes depending on the size of the swirl.
That’s all there is to it. You are now ready to frost your yummy baked goods with this super delicious The Best Crean Cheese Frosting and wow does it make cookies, cakes and cupcakes taste great!

Sweet biscuits are something that I have made for a long time in slightly different variations on the recipe. After the last few years though, I thought I&rsquod share the version of the recipe that has now become my standard.
These are very close to scones but a bit sweeter, especially if you go for the turbinado sugar top like I love to do. Turbinado sugar is available at most bulk stores, like Bulk Barn here in Canada.
It is large coarse-grained raw cane sugar that adds a little sweet crunch to the tops of the biscuits. That step is, of course, optional in this recipe.
They are a balance between being a little crispy at the edges when freshly baked with a soft, tender interior. Scones tend to be softer all around but in this instance I like the textural difference in the edges here.
Sweet Biscuits ready for the oven
They are just a thing of amazing, simple perfection when served at brunch, warm from the oven, with melting butter. Summer is a great time to serve them, especially with seasonal jams like two of my favourites, Roasted Strawberry Jam or Roasted Peach Jam .
Sweet Biscuits for Strawberry Shortcake
The most common use for these sweet biscuits at our house has always been as the base for summer shortcake desserts, especially Strawberry Shortcake.
We use whatever fresh fruit or berries are in season to make these delicious, easy desserts peaches, nectaries, plums, cherries, blackberries, raspberries. Whatever fruit you like will work just fine.
We simply macerate the fruit in a little sugar for an hour or so and serve it between a split sweet biscuit with vanilla whipped cream. It&rsquos the perfect summer barbecue or picnic dessert. Find out how we make our Sweet Biscuit Strawberry Shortcake here .
